Currently, The Biomechanical Environments Laboratory is seeking graduate students and postdocs interested in:

  • Orthopedic device and tissue testing
  • Medical device design
  • Cardiovascular and lymphatic mechanics
  • Whole body biomechanics and sport performance
  • Mechanics of soft tissues and tissue engineered constructs
  • Artificial intelligence for healthcare

Applicants with experiences in multiple of the following areas are preferred:

  1. Mechanical testing and evaluation:

    4. experimental design and instrumentation
  2. Non-linear mechanics:
    1. Non-linear elasticity
    2. Linear and non-linear viscoelasticity
    3. Anisotropy
    4. Non-linear finite element analysis
    5. Digital image correlation
  3. Programming and software design experience (most desirable to least desirable):
    1. Python
    2. C/C++
    3. Matlab
    4. Labview
    5. Other
  4. Motion capture and whole body biomechanics
    1. Vicon Nexus
    2. Inverse kinematics
    3. OpenSim
  5. Medical device design and entrepreneurship
    1. FDA design controls and quality management
    2. Startup companies
    3. Intellectual property development
